To get here, assuming you are on I-5 and coming from the South:

Take I-5 going North. Get off at the N. 85th St. exit, which is a right off. It will cross over the freeway and head West. Proceed on N. 85th St. for a long way. It will eventually become NW 85th St. Stay on it until you get to 15th Ave. NW, a major intersection. Turn right on 15th Ave. NW. Within a few blocks it will swing to the right and become Holman Road. Stay on it for short while, a dozen blocks or so, and you will see a large 1950's style hamburger drive-in coming up on your right. It's called "Dick's Drive-in". Be prepared to make a left turn as you get to it. Your turn is from Holman onto 12th Ave. NW. There is a bi-directional middle turn lane. You will be looking at a long downgrade on Holman. Make the left onto 12th Ave. NW, which is a less than 90 degree turn and immediately goes up a short, steep grade, then levels out. Proceed on 12th Ave. NW until you come to our house at 10527 12th Ave. NW. There will be one stop sign at NW 100th St. Be aware that the other intersections are largely unmarked, though a few have yield signs. Our house will be on your left. It is brick, up a slight rise, and will have either or both of two cars in the driveway... a white Dodge Caravan with the license "KITEGUY", or a small black Metro Geo. Phone number is below if you need it.

To get here if you are coming on I-5 from the North:

Take I-5 South. Get off at Northgate Way exit. It is a right off. Turn right onto Northgate Way. Follow Northgate Way around a couple of curves. It will swing through a couple of curves, be 109th St NW for a short bit, and then become 115th St. NW, but it is always obviously the main route. Just stay on it. You will cross Aurora Ave. and Greenwood Ave. After Greenwood, the street you are on will be called Holman Road. Stay on Holman Road and you will climb a long hill. Very close to the top of this hill you will see a 1950's style hamburger drive-in ahead on your left. It is called "Dick's Drive-In". You will want to make a very sharp right turn off of Holman Road onto 12th Ave. NW just before you get to Dick's Drive-In. Not only is the turn very sharp right, it immediately goes up a short, steep grade, then levels out.

To get here if you are coming from Downtown Seattle (such as if you came in on a ferry from across the Sound):

From Downtown, take any of the North streets up to Denny Way. This could be Western, First Ave. or Fourth Ave. At Denny Way, turn left (there are traffic lights that will guide you.) From Western, you will be immediately routed onto Elliott Ave. From First or Fourth, you will proceed a short way on Denny Ave. and then be forced to swing right onto Elliott. Take Elliott Ave. North and it will eventually swing and turn into 15th Ave. NW, crossing the Ballard Bridge. Stay on 15th Ave. NW. You will cross Market Street, then NW 65th Street, then NW 85th Street. After the intersection with NW 85th St., 15th Ave. NW, will swing to the right and become Holman Road. Neighborhood Detail

Detail of area, showing actual house location, Note N and NW 85th St. at bottom (same street), N 105th St. at mid-height and NW/N 125th St. at top. All three of these streets connect to Aurora Ave. N just a few blocks off of the east edge of this map. After nearly an hour of messing with three different map programs, I couldn't get one to slide to just the right position to show Aurora in the inset.

Here is some motel info:

All of these motels are located on Aurora Ave. N, between 85th St. and 141st St. I will be posting a map on my web site that will get you from the freeway to Aurora Ave. N. This stretch is not real close to us, but is as close as a selection of motels gets. I will also post a map that will get you from Aurora Ave. N. to my house. Lynn... you will need to post some directions for getting to your place for the folks that are coming there on Friday.

Emerald Inn 8512 Aurora Ave. N. 206-522-5000 Basic travelers motel on busy intersection, but has Jack in the Box next door. Straight shot west on 85th to 15th Ave. NW to get to my house.

Seafair Inn 9100 Aurora Ave. N. 206-524-3600 A newer, clearly nicer motel. Two units, and I believe one has inside rooms, as opposed to rooms on an outer balcony. Close to a Taco Bell. Go down Aurora to 85th or up Aurora to 125th to get to my house.

Crown Inn 9501 Aurora Ave. N. 206-525-8164 Basic motel, but new and looks quite clean.

Black Angus Motor Inn 125th & Aurora Ave. N. 206-363-3055 Basic motel. Older, but perfectly OK. Plus point is location. It's attached to a very fine restaurant, the 125th St. Grill, now serving breakfast on weekends, as well as lunch and dinners. Also across the street (with a traffic light) from a Subway and a Krispy Kreme. 125th provides access to the area of my house.

Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites 14115 Aurora N. 206-363-7777 Very new and definitely a classier proposition than the basic motels above. You can go down Aurora to access the restaurants mentioned for the Black Angus, and to get to my house. There is a Taco Time across the street, but no traffic light and it is a very busy street.

OK... you can call and check rates and features on those to see what meets your standards. There are several other motels between 85th and 125th with really cheap rates, like $30 to $35. They are prominently advertised as you drive up Aurora and almost always have vacancies. They are OK and I would give info if I were getting a bunch of guys in for a railroad meet or something, but for ladies or families, the ones listed above would be more comfortable.

There will be a get together at Lynn Field's house in Marysvillle, WA on Friday afternoon/evening. Lynn says come anytime after 2:30 pm. She would like to know who is coming so she knows how much to prepare. She is planning on making chicken fried steak.

Lynn's address is: 11105 47th. Ave. N., Marysville, WA

Here are directions from Interstate 5:

Either North or South, take Exit #202. From the south, turn right off of the ramp onto 116th going east. From the North, tunr left off of the ramp onto 116th going east.

Take 116th east to the first stop light, which will be State Street.

Turn right on State Street and go south. Take the first available left, which should be 113th (Lynn wasn't absolutely sure of the street's number, but it appears to be right according to the map below). In any event is is derectly behind a Albertson's store.

Go 3 to 4 blocks to a T intersection.

Take a right on 47th and look for some very tall trees on your left. That's Lynn's place.
